CSI: Crime Scene Investigation is an American television series in which a team of forensics specialists solves crimes. The series has two spin-offs in the same continuum (the characters from these spin-offs sometimes interact): CSI: Miami and CSI: New York. All three shows are relatively long-running, with eight to eleven seasons and still on the air.
CSI is probably the single most important factor in popularizing forensics, although the science is often skewed for the sake of time, drama, or whatever else the producers think would make a good show. The show tends to be fairly graphic.
Canon distortion in a fic can often be gauged by how realistic the blood is—the less realistic it is, the worse the state the canon is in.
