The mini of the manga/anime X/1999 is a mini-sakura tree. They originally appeared at the Official Fanfiction University of X, which has been deleted. A Wayback Machine capture of the first chapter may be viewed here, but it doesn't feature the minis. The OFU's coordinator, Agent Teena, still owns one in her PPC spin-off.
Despite having the bodies of plants, mini-sakuras are still capable of self-locomotion, and can shake their branches to express laughter.
Canon Origin[]
"Sakura" is Japanese for "cherry blossom." A particular sakura tree appears in X, associated with one of the main characters.
Sakurazuka Seishirō is the most famous and talented assassin in Tokyo. He is referred to as the Sakurazukamori ("cherry blossom burial mound guardian") because he buries all his victims under a particular sakura tree, which is nourished by the corpses and remains in bloom no matter the season.
