A Floater, as the name indicates, is a member of the Department of Floaters. Many Floaters are new and have been put in the department until they discover a particular specialty in PPC work, but others are just agents who don't want to be restricted to a specific fandom or type of badfic. Career Floaters would be wise to maintain a diverse array of interests, since they can be (and often are) sent into more obscure and under-served continua.
