Murtagh is an agent in the Department of Floaters. He was created by Pigeonarmy.

Agent Profile[]

Appearance[]

Murtagh is a tall, black-haired man in his late 30s. He has numerous scars down the right side of his body, including a large scar across his right cheek, due to an altercation with a phaser-wielding Sue in a Star Trek Suefic early on in his career. He usually wears a suit styled after 1940s private detectives, complete with tan trenchcoat and dark brown fedora.

Personality[]

Murtagh is not a personable agent, and has been flying under the radar for many years at the PPC. He mostly keeps to himself, spending his free time sleeping or listening to jazz and classical music. He has a dry sense of humour, and exhibits contempt for those he encounters both on the job and at the PPC, best characterised by his characteristic smirk. He draws many characteristics from literary and cinematic influences, including Phillip Marlowe and "Dirty" Harry Callahan. He is generally unsympathetic towards Sues and badfic characters, though is known to have mini-crises of conscience. He is also believed to suffer new partners poorly, particularly ones that do not listen to him.

History[]

Not much is known about Murtagh's employment history, as the files were lost years ago during a Department of Personnel reshuffle. He is, however, known to have been a long-serving assassin in the Department of Mary Sues, working in all prominent canons. However, he was removed for currently undisclosed reasons in 2004, and worked briefly for the Department of Intelligence before being transferred to the Department of Floaters. He has gone through three partners in his eighteen months in the Department of Floaters — two are believed to have gone missing in canon, while the third is currently under intense treatment at the Department of Fictional Psychology. He has been working with Agent Titus since late 2007.

Murtagh was heavily involved in combating the 2008 Mary Sue Invasion, including being part of the Massacre at the Tomb of the Unknown PPC Agent.
