PPC Beta Reader Directory

This is a list of all members of the Board who are willing to beta on a regular basis. Feel free to add yourself (alphabetically)!

I am best at correcting grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation mistakes. I also am a good typo hunter. However, being a perpetual newb... questions of "can I do this with a CAD" and "has anyone done this before in the PPC?" are probably best left to some of the others. I'm willing to review anything that's in a fandom I've read/seen.

BOOKS: Star of Kazan, Pride and Prejudice, Children of Húrin, Greek, Roman, Norse mythology (not a book, but you get the idea), the Hunger Games, the Chronicles of Narnia, the Three Musketeers, Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, Jane Eyre
MOVIES: Narnia 1 & 2, Twilight (if it's necessary), the Bourne Trilogy, West Side Story, Pride and Prejudice
TV: the Mentalist, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Blue Bloods

Cassie Cameron-Young Edit

  • E-mail: cassie dot dramateacher at googlemail dot com

Prefers to work in Gdocs. Best at SPaG and canon details, and is notorious Britpicker; please specify if Britpicking is desired or to be avoided. Willing to do last-minute jobs, and if you've heard nothing from her for more than three days, poke her.

Fandoms: {C}Off the top of her head, and with the help of her bookcase, she can handle:

  • Angels and Demons/The Da Vinci Code (bookverse only)
  • Assorted Disney films
  • Chobits (manga only)
  • Chronicles of Narnia (bookverse only)
  • Discworld
  • Earth's Children
  • Good Omens
  • Harry Potter (bookverse only)
  • His Dark Materials
  • Lord of the Rings (including Silmarillion and HoME)
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Redwall
  • The Belgariad/Malloreon and Elenium/Tamuli
  • The Life of Brian

Can handle various other books, check with her as required.

Data Junkie Edit

  • E-mail:

It's much easier to just ask if I know a fandom or not. If not, I'll usually go look it up just so I can still be of some little use. Fairly good as SPaG, though I may miss a punctuation misuse, or misuse one myself. Also, if you submit a word document, don't be terribly surprised if my corrections show up in red text. The other option is me scanning the print-out that's been written on with a red pen and sending that back.

Note: Wheel of Time beyond book 4 or so, and any Tolkien beyond LotR and the Hobbit are going to be a no. I know vague details, but not major plot points or anything like that. Same deal for Harry Potter book 7 and pretty much all of Torchwood.

doctorlit Edit

doctorlit is temporarily on hiatus from beta work until the archive is complete.

  • E-mail and AIM: keyoflit[at]yahoo[dot]com (both checked regularly)

I prefer to work in Microsoft Word, but am warming to GoogleDocs. Please, put me to work beta-ing your stories, and help keep my brain focused on the PPC. Have little time in Winter and Spring, less busy the rest of the year.

Fandoms: Verstile, and can do non-fandom-specific betaing too

Ellipsis Flood Edit

  • usually in the PPC IRC
  • e-mail: kokosnuss_nc-ppc[at]yahoo[dot]de

I'm a native German speaker, so some things might be lost on me, but I'm good at finding stupid little typos and picking apart stories, if you get me into crit-mode. Also, German, for obvious reasons.

I prefer to discuss errors in real time for better feedback.

  • Megaman
  • World of Warcraft (up to Wrath of the Lich King)
  • Stargate (mostly SG-1 and the first few seasons of Atlantis)
  • several Disney animated shows, just ask
  • Dragonball (original and Z)
  • some anime, just ask
  • much more stuff I can't remember right now, but I'm willing to beta things outside my fandoms for giving general story hints

Farseer Lolotea Edit

FlareShard Edit

  • E-mail: greendracon3881 at gmx dot de; frequently in the PPC IRC

Always willing and ready to check works for SPaG and other errors; will also give suggestions for story ideas and feedback on characters. Native German speaker who can and will help with translations, phrases and idioms.

Miah Edit

  • E-mail: miah.arthur at gamil dot com

Will beta any type of mission for style, consistency, plot, etc. Cannot beta for SPaG. Prefers Google Docs. Perfectly willing to beta fandoms that she is not familiar with, but is familiar with the following list.

Neshomeh Edit

  • E-mail: exswyzie14 at yahoo dot com

Will beta any type of mission for anything: SPaG, style, consistency, you name it. Especially good for matters of PPC canon and compatibility therewith. Prefers to work with a .DOC file, and does not do rush jobs. Expect to wait about a week for reading, re-reading, correcting, double-checking, and sending back; more for longer missions.

Also known, in less detail:

Will likely also beta for things not on this list, since not knowing a fandom means she's well able to spot things that won't make sense for other people unfamiliar with the fandom. If you're not sure, just ask. {= )

  • E-mail: Baridthetroll at gmail dot com

Prefers to work in Google Docs. Not great for SPaG. Better for style, flow, and making sure it makes sense.

  • Dragonlance Saga
  • Chronicles of Thomas Covenant
  • Wheel of Time series
  • Discworld
  • Harry Potter
  • Stephen King (especially the Dark Tower series)

  • The Lord of the Rings
  • Harry Potter
  • Starwars
  • Chronicles of Riddick

  • World of Warcraft
  • Mario series
  • Team Fortress 2

  • Metroid series

  • Family Guy
  • The Simpsons
  • Witch Hunter Robin
  • Fullmetal Alchemist
  • Akira

  • .hack//sign
  • Fruits Basket

pigeonarmy Edit

  • E-mail: goldfishinabowl At Hotmail Dot Com

Ponystar Edit

  • E-mail: pipparosemorris at aol dot com

I can check for incorrect spelling, bad grammar (although I may not be able to point out a perfect fix), and contradictions of canon/OOCness. Not especially good at noticing if something contradicts facts in an already existing mission report of the PPC. Note that the fandoms listed may not match up with the ones on my profile, simply because I've only put ones I'm pretty confident of my knowledge in. Feel free to try asking me to beta for a 'fic that is set in a continuum that doesn't appear here, but I won't be able to catch canon or characterization slip-ups.

Fandoms (in alphabetical order):

PoorCynic Edit

  • E-mail: reillybf at msn dot com

I can check SPaG and dialogue structure. Response times will vary, but I'll try to get anything sent to me back as soon as possible.

  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • Batman (Diniverse)

  • Scott Pilgrim (graphic novels and film)
  • Sherlock Holmes (books and film)
  • Teen Titans (cartoon show)
  • X-Files
  • Many other cartoon shows; ask for specifics

Pretzel Edit

  • E-mail: at Gmail dot com

I'm usually knowledgeable about most sci-fi and fantasy fandoms, but am willing to cover SPAG and general coherence of the plot/story if I'm not familiar with the fandom.

  • Stargate (All three series and the movie)
  • Harry Potter
  • Discworld
  • NCIS and NCIS: LA
  • CSI: and CSI: New York
  • Criminal Minds (Up to the beginning of Season 3)
  • Leverage
  • Eureka
  • Lie to Me
  • Narnia
  • Sanctuary
  • MLP:FiM
  • Warehouse 13

The list goes on. Feel free to ask

  • E-mail:

I'm good for SPaG, general stylistic things, and a large number of fandoms; if you want fandom-specific beta-ing just ask me if I'm knowledgable on it or not, basically.

Rider ranger47Edit

  • Email: riderranger47(at) Google docs prefered
    • Fandoms:
      • Artemis Fowl
      • How To Train Your Dragon (Films only)

Sara Edit

  • E-mail: celticfirefeet at hotmail dot com

Sedri Edit

  • E-mail: fanwritersedri At Gmail Dot Com

Sedri is better as a SPaG and narrative style beta, but will be glad to give content comments on any subject matter or fandoms she is familiar with.

  • With regard to formatting, spelling, punctuating and so forth, Sedri uses a mix of British and American conventions, in part because no country seems to agree with itself, let alone others, and in part because some conventions make no sense whatsoever and only serve to make prose more confusing. If you ask her to beta for you, she will do her best to follow whatever standardised convention you prefer, but this is the reason she prefers to beta for style than SPaG.

Sergio TurboEdit

  • Email: stginelli [snaillikethingy] gmail [point] com

Prefers to work with GoogleDocs, but will accept .doc files too. Can do plot and flow consistency and check for canon and PPC compatibility. Willing to beta missions in continua he's not familiar with. Can't do SPaG due to being a non-native English speaker, but can check for readability and point out ambiguous phrases due to a tendency to read them with the wrong meaning first. Checks the mail very often.

  • Ace Combat (3, 04, Unsung War and Belkan War. Not 100% reliable with all the others. Will not touch Assault Horizon with a mile-long pole)
  • Bakusou Kyuoday Let's&Go!! (original series, WGP and Max)
  • Bones (not 100% reliable)
  • Card Captor Sakura
  • Detective Conan/Case Closed
  • Doctor Who (only New Who)
  • Fairy Tail
  • Inspector Gadget (original series, Last Case, and Disney movies. Not 100% reliable with Gadget and Gadgetinis.)
  • Knight Rider (1982 series and 1991 movie. Not 100% reliable with 2008 series)
  • Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (original series, A's, StrikerS, Innocent and movies. Not 100% reliable with Force or ViVid.)
  • Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (not 100% reliable)
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • NCIS (main series only)
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica (main series, movies and Oriko)
  • Touhou Project (only main setting and characters)

Silikat Edit

  • Email:

  • Doctor Who
  • Torchwood
  • Wicked
  • Les Misérables
  • Cats
  • Harry Potter
  • Most things Disney
  • Star Wars (but only numbers four, five and six)

Teddy Leach Edit

Teddy can beta for absolutely everything, especially SPaG. He prefers to work with .DOC files and will usually send works back within two or three days.

  • Please note: Teddy is English, and so sticks to the traditional 'British-English' for SPaG, although he is perfectly willing to beta works that use other forms of English.

Fandoms: It's best to just ask, but these are a few of the fandoms he's familiar with:

Note that's off the top of his head. Just ask, and there's a good chance he'll know something about what you're looking for.

Tomato Edit

  • E-mail: agent_tomato5 At Yahoo Dot Com

Trojanhorse Edit

  • E-mail: trojanhorseshadowfax At Gmail Dot Com

Trojie is better for biology/science beta-reading than for SPaG beta - she tends to be erratic with the latter.

Vilstrup Edit

  • E-mail: Vilstrup90 At Gmail Dot Com

  • Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis
  • Star Wars
  • Lord of the Rings - the movies
  • Halo
  • Battlefield

Valiril ErquentienEdit

  • E-mail:

  • Hetalia Axis Powers
  • Lord Of The Rings
  • The Silmarillion
  • The Hobbit
  • Harry Potter
  • The Chronicles of Narnia

Note: I can manage Sherlock or Doctor Who, but my main expertise is the world of Eä (includes Middle-Earth and Rhûn and Vailnor). Don't ask me about any of the Elvish Dialects, but if you must, fire ahead. I can direct you to trustworthy sources.

  • E-mail:

Fandoms: See my page. Notes: I'm kinda bad at SPaG, as I'm usually distracted by the story being told. Thus, my areas of expertise are information and story.
