Rose Tyler is a canon character from the new series of the TV show Doctor Who

[edit] Canon History

Rose Marion Tyler (played by British pop star Billie Piper) was introduced in the first episode of the New Who, "Rose," as a working-class shop girl in 2006 HST London. She lives in a council flat in the Powell Estate with her mother Jackie. She has a boyfriend named Mickey Smith who works at a garage and lives in the same estate. Rose's father, Pete, died a year after she was born. During an adventure in which plastic shop mannequins all over London come to life and start a killing spree, Rose teams up with the Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) to save her home, especially since his first act on meeting her is to blow up her place of work, leaving her jobless. At the end of the episode, the Doctor asks Rose to join him in his adventures.

Rose travels with the Doctor, constantly thrilled and astonished by the amazing places he takes her. Despite the Ninth Doctor's tendency to disparage "lesser life forms", he seems to find her insight into the better side of humanity valuable. Rose displays a growing talent throughout the first and second seasons to complement the Doctor's trains of thought. She also has some gymnastic talent, having won the bronze medal in an under-sevens competition in junior school.
